My Top 5 Favorite iPhone Apps for 2014

Posted by Jillian Harrington on Monday, January 13, 2014, In : life balance
This New Years, I got a little app-happy.  I don't know why, but getting a new app makes me feel like some magic portal has opened in my life, and I can finally do whatever I want, and do it much easier.  I found a bunch of new apps this past holiday season, and I've been yapping on and on about them.

So, I thought I would share them with you, because, just maybe, they'll open a magic portal in your life as well...

1.  Zombie 5K Training

This one I JUST started today, and it already is pre...

Daily Hmm: Something You Don't Want to Do?

Posted by Jillian Harrington on Sunday, July 7, 2013, In : life balance
Find yourself signing up for something that you don't really want to do? It is totally okay to renegotiate the agreement, or step down all together.

Seriously, it is okay to say no. So often we put our responsibilities to others before our responsibilities to ourselves.

The commitment you have made to yourself to relax, de-stress, be productive, or whatever, is just as important as any other commitment.

Stop Hiding in Unhealthy Behaviors and Face the Truth of Yourself

Posted by Jillian Harrington on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, In : life balance
We all have our little ways of avoiding life.

And by avoiding life, I really mean, avoiding ourselves.

Because isn't it truly the BS in our own heads that we are trying to escape from?  That voice that says "I'm not good enough", that feeling that says "I don't have what it takes", that suspicion that you'll never succeed at whatever it is you truly desire.  You just want to escape that sense that you aren't really happy about who you are, what you look like, or where you are in your life, ...

Kickass Productivity: NowDoThis Review

Posted by Jillian Harrington on Monday, September 3, 2012, In : life balance
New blog post category!  Kickass productivity!  Productivity is something I always love to explore & learn more about, and over the years I have tried out many a tool and technique.  So, I'm going to throw some of it at you, to see if any of it can help you in your day to day living.

Currently I have a favorite tool that I've learned from the wildly popular Leo Babuta of Zen habits (and if you haven't checked him out, you should!  Especially if you are interested in simplicity + lifestyle).  I...

It's time to declutter your life!

Posted by Jillian Harrington on Friday, May 11, 2012, In : life balance
That's right, m'dears.  I have a sneaking suspicion that you have WAY too much going on in your life.  And it is really clogging things up, leaving you no room for the joy or passion that needs to find some space to take root.

So.  Try this.

Make a list of...

  • Your Work: jobs & volunteer
    • Include your volunteer work, the things you do only occasionally, as well as, of course, your regular job
  • Your Peeps: friends & family
    • The ones you see all the time, the ones you wish you saw more, and everythi...

Are You Filling Up Your Life with Drama or Stress?

Posted by Jillian Harrington on Thursday, April 5, 2012, In : life balance

What if each one of us has a threshold for a certain amount of drama in our lives? I like to imagine a bucket, with a line around the inside which indicates the water, or really drama, line.  So that, as the drama level in our lives go down lower than our mark, we look around for more drama to fill that bucket up with.

I'm sure you know people like this.  That always have to be in a state of drama, and will look around and create some more when they are running low.  Well, we are all like th...

Get Rid of It All and Find Your Life

Posted by Jillian Harrington on Thursday, October 13, 2011, In : life balance
Are you drowning yourself?  Is the "more, more, more" mentality that we've all been raised with, actually robbing you of your life?

We're told we should have more stuff.
We should have more friends.
We should have more money.
We should be getting more done.
We should be exercising more more more.

We scramble around every day, trying to just barely tread water.  And some of us are drowning.

What if that was all wrong?  What if we are actually moving into a time where "less, less, less" is the ment...
